Located in North Central Victoria, Kow Swamp is a place of significant archaeological importance. The name derives from the Yorta Yorta Aboriginal word "Ghow", referring to the white gypsum soils found at the swamp. Within these soils lies the Kow Swamp archaeological site, which has produced human skeletal remains dating back to the Pleistocene era, over 10,000 years ago.

After over a dozen previous visits, we stand once again in waist high water in anticipation for the mornings light show. Approaching the horizon, the full moon begins to glow golden yellow. Drowned trees stand tall in stark contrast to the pink glow. A truely breathtaking moment and a welcome reward for our perseverance.
